Texas Chamber Orchestra

The Texas Chamber Orchestra has a core group of 15-17 string musicians that perform at each of our subscription concerts. This group is often supplemented with woodwinds and brass according to the program.

These musicians are free-lance professionals. Many of them perform with other leading orchestras such as the Dallas Opera Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony, the Richardson Symphony, the Dallas Chamber Orchestra and the Plano Chamber Orchestra. A significant number of them are from the Metrocrest area or have moved here in recent years.

Due to its size and flexibility, TCO has the opportunity to offer works that larger groups cannot readily program because it would mean too many musicians would sit idle. In addition to the standard symphonic works and solo concerti that larger groups perform, TCO has presented such pieces as the Bach Six Brandenburg Concerti, the Copland Appalachian Spring Suite in the original chamber version, the Brahms G Major Sextet with string orchestra, the Ravel Introduction & Allegro and the Shostakovich String Quarter No. 8, Op. 110.
