When he formed the orchestra in 1985, founding
Music Director Nicholas Parakevas knew that he was filling a niche not
served by other Texas symphonies. Its diverse chamber music contrasted with
the symphony fare played in Dallas, Fort Worth and other major cities
throughout the state of Texas.
Today, with a new name and a renewed commitment to artistic excellence,
Texas Chamber Orchestra continues the tradition. Under the musical direction
of Artistic Advisor José Feghall, TCO offers a unique
repertoire, which includes the intimate works of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart,
to an ever-expanding local and statewide audience.
Texas Chamber Orchestra is a colorful and vibrant ensemble composed of some
of the finest musicians in North Texas. The orchestra's core group consists
of 15 to 17 string musicians and, depending on repertoire, is augmented by
soloists and specialists players (e.g., winds, brass, and percussion) to a
maximum of 40.
Now, more than ever before, Texas Chamber Orchestra is dedicated to
providing concerts of great music, enriching quality of life, and offering
engaging educational opportunities for adults and children in the diverse
communities it serves.
